The Meaning In Our Logo
The Symbolism in Our Logo: Promoting Mental Health Awareness
Every detail of the Colorado Psychiatry Solutions logo was chosen deliberately to emphasize our commitment to mental health awareness. Our logo features a stylized butterfly with a semicolon forming its head and body, surrounded by vibrant wings in shades of green, blue, purple, and teal.
Each artistic design choice in the logo represents an aspect of mental health awareness and reflects our deep commitment to promoting mental health and healing.
The Butterfly: A Symbol of Transformation
The butterfly represents transformation, growth, and rebirth. In the context of mental health, it represents the journey from suffering to healing. Just as a butterfly transforms from a caterpillar to something radiant and beautiful, those living with mental health challenges often undergo a profound personal transformation on the path to wellness.
The butterfly has also been used historically within the mental health community to represent complex PTSD (formerly referred to as borderline personality disorder).
The Semicolon: Making a Conscious Choice to Continue
Forming the head and body of the butterfly is a semicolon. A semicolon represents a moment when an author could have ended a sentence but didn’t. The semicolon is the punctuation mark used to continue on.
In the context of mental health, the sentence represents you and the decision to continue living, growing, and healing. Groups like Project Semicolon have adopted the semicolon to promote suicide awareness and prevention.
The Colors of Our Logo: Every Shade Tells a Story of Mental Health
The colors in our logo were carefully chosen to represent the wide range of conditions we treat and the positive outcomes possible through treatment. Our logo colors are a visible statement of support for the diverse mental health journeys of our patients.
Our use of Purple embraces a significant range of interconnected issues. While often linked to older awareness for ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), purple broadly signifies introspection, wisdom, and transformation, acknowledging the complex journey of mental health. It also connects to broader awareness of issues like Alzheimer’s and domestic violence, both of which have profound mental health implications.
Blue is used to represent several mental health disorders, including use by the National Eating Disorder Association for awareness and prevention of eating disorders such as bulimia, binge eating, and anorexia. Blue is a calming color and represents the inner peace and mental calmness that can result from treatment. Anxiety, racing thoughts, depression, PTSD, and obsessions – when properly treated – can give way to peaceful calm and quiet.
Purple and Teal together are used to represent suicide prevention and awareness, particularly military and veteran suicide prevention. Isolation from friends and family, being in dangerous environments, and the unpredictable nature of military life can frequently lead to depression, anxiety, and PTSD – all of which contribute to a higher rate of suicide attempts among our military. The purple and teal in our logo express the availability of treatment to prevent tragic outcomes.
Our Logo Represents You
While our logo does stand for Colorado Psychiatry Solutions, it stands for much more than that. It represents you as much as it does us and our commitment to delivering compassionate care.
Each patient who walks through our doors brings a unique story. Our logo reflects that colorful tapestry of experience and welcomes you to a place of healing and transformation.
