Questions About TRICARE and TMS or Other Mental Health Services
Q: Do I need a referral from my primary care provider? (PCP/PCM)
If you have TRICARE Prime you do need a referral from your PCP/PCM. If you are on another TRICARE plan, you do not need a referral to be seen.
Q: If I am on TRICARE Prime, does everyone in my family need a referral?
Yes. TRICARE Prime now requires that all active duty and family members obtain a referral from their PCM prior to being seen by a specialist, such as Colorado Psychiatry Solutions.
Q: What happens if I have an active authorization for psychiatry at a different clinic?
That’s OK, we will help you get that authorization cancelled and obtain a new authorization for Colorado Psychiatry Solutions.
Q: Is Colorado Psychiatry Solutions a routine mental health care provider or a specialist?
TRICARE classifies Colorado Psychiatry Solutions as a specialty provider, not a routine mental health care provider. Co-pay amounts are different for the two provider types. Please note: this is a TRICARE policy and not our clinic policy.
